Resumo:

A ingestão de alimentos e a exoneração dos resíduos digestivos em condições normais são atos deliberados que se passam através das extremidades do sistema digestório graças à atividade da musculatura estriada. Já o tubo existente de permeio é dotado de musculatura lisa cuja atividade motora se desenrola de forma autônoma.
